Danny Graham is predicting a bright future at Ewood Park and is keen to play his part.

The striker is hoping for an extended stay at the club after scoring 17 goals to help Rovers to promotion back to the Championship.

The 32-year-old has become a mainstay of the side in 2018 but his deal expires in the summer, although Rovers do have a 12-month option in their favour.

And Graham is confident a deal can be struck.

He told the Lancashire Telegraph: “I’m going to keep mentioning it until I get a new deal.

“I spoke to the gaffer after the game (on Tuesday) and hopefully a new deal comes, I’m sure there will be other people in the team knocking on his door who have had a great season and be wanting a new contract.

“Let’s get these two games out of the way, hopefully my future gets sorted sooner rather than later and we all have a good season next year.”

Eleven months on from relegation to the Championship, Graham believes the club has regained a feel-good factor which they can take into next season.

He is looking forward to the final two games with Rovers having an outside shot of the title, and believes the long-term picture at Ewood looks promising. When asked if he feels the good times are coming back to the club, he said: “I really do.

“We have the rapport with the fans back and you can see that by the numbers we’re getting both home and away so it feels a good club to be at.

“Things seem to be on the up and it’s down to us as players to carry that forward and make sure we do a good job next year.”

Graham has started all but two games in 2018 and may be one of the players who boss Tony Mowbray considers resting in the final two matches.

The former Sunderland frontman found himself behind Dominic Samuel earlier in the season but has taken his chance since being handed an extended run in the side at the back end of 2017.

And he said he never thought of leaving to secure first-team football elsewhere, and is delighted with how his campaign has gone.

“I had a slow start, I found myself out of the team but kept my head down, worked hard and it makes it all worthwhile for moments like (promotion),” he said. “Thankfully it didn’t get that far.

“As a footballer you want to be playing week in, week out and it’s tough when you’re sat on the bench.

“Dom came in and did a very good job, he was scoring goals and rightly keeping me out of the team.

“It was up to me as a person and as a man to get myself going in training and, after a conversation with the gaffer, I managed to get myself back in the team and I haven’t looked back.

“Since then it’s been a great few months, getting the goals and the assists and helping the boys do well

“Most importantly we have got the promotion so I’m delighted how it’s gone and hopefully we can see where it takes us in these next two games and start next year on a high.”
