Tony Mowbray revealed there will be changes to his Rovers side at Charlton tomorrow with several players having played through the pain barrier in recent weeks.

But Mowbray is mindful of maintaining the integrity of the league, having questioned Huddersfield Town making wholesale changes in their penultimate fixture last season against Rovers' relegation rival Birmingham City.

Rovers secured promotion back to the Championship with victory at Doncaster Rovers on Tuesday, but still have hopes of lifting the title.

And with a travelling support of 3,030, Mowbray knows the responsibilities he has to name a strong side. But a number of players have played with slight injuries to ensure Rovers secured promotion, with Mowbray admitting they are deserving of a rest.

“There is a few slight issues,” the boss said.

“We’ve had some walking wounded for the last three or four weeks that we have kept under wraps.

“Now this job has been done they probably won’t play which you will see tomorrow who’s not going to play.

“We have had players who have been playing who shouldn’t have been playing football matches over the last three or four weeks, but now they don’t have to play.

“I don’t want them to miss their whole summer of rest by having to come in for treatment.

“The team will reveal who doesn’t play. There are one or two players that I want to leave out and rest but they say they will be fine. That’s okay, I will let them decide because they know the consequences of the damage they can do.”

Tomorrow's game will be Rovers' seventh in 26 days during a busy April which has seen them claim 14 points.

They are one point behind leaders Wigan with two games to play, and Mowbray praised his players' application in recent weeks.

He added: “I’ve seen some players, sort of old school footballers, over the last month to six weeks who have been like I was a player, you get on with it.

“You play through the niggles and the tight hamstrings, your sore muscles, you just played.

“We have had players do that over the last month but now with two games to go, they don’t have to put themselves in a position where they could miss the whole summer if something went wrong.

“There will be one or two changes but still put in a performance to try and win the game.”

“Still sitting in my mind is the Birmingham v Huddersfield game, we have to respect the league because teams fighting Charlton to get in the play-offs will expect Blackburn Rovers to go there and give them a good game and get a result which we will look to do.”

After securing promotion on Tuesday, it has been a busy time for Mowbray, who was pleased to be preparing for another game.

“It's been a lot of planning and organisation, trying to put things together, organising meetings,” he said.

“There is lots to plan and prepare, there's not much relaxation.

“But there is a game tomorrow, so today is a normal training day, we've prepared for the game and will try and go to Charlton to try and continue in a similar vain to what we have been doing all year.  We will make sure Charlton know they are in a game.

“We have a big following going there, so we have a big responsibility to try and put in a performance and win.”
