UNLUCKY Accrington Stanley have crashed out of the Carling Cup to Leicester City at the Fraser Eagle Stadium.

Stanley fell behind to a fourth minute goal from James Wesolowski and could not rustle up an equaliser, although they were a whisker away after twice hitting the woodwork in the second-half.

The Reds fell behind when they failed to deal with Bruno N'Gotty's cross. His delivery ricocheted off the post and landed at the feet of Foxes frontman Matty Fryatt, who teed up Wesolowski for a bottom corner finish.

Stanley responded well and created chances in an even first-half.

Lee McEvilly almost took advantage of a blunder by Paul Henderson.

The Foxes goalkeeper's clearance was smacked goalwards by McEvilly but his effort was saved by Henderson's legs as he retreated back to his own goal-line.

Stanley bossed the second period against their Championship visitors and deserved an equaliser for all their hard work.

But on two occasions, they struck the post as they searched for a leveller.

Jay Harris was first to be denied, when his effort three minutes after the interval crashed against the upright.

Ten minutes from time, Leicester got another huge slice of luck when Peter Cavanagh's free-kick whizzed around the wall, clattered the post and bounced to safety.
