A POPULAR Blackburn pub have set a four-midable' record in a prestigious pool tournament.

For the Fox & Hounds B' team have been crowned Thwaites' Monday Night Pool League Champion of Champions for the fourth year running.

After winning the First Division title in the Winter League, they joined the league's three other divisional winners in the knockout stage of the Champion of Champions event.

Victory over Division Four winners Gibraltar in the semi-finals set up a grand finale against Division Three winners the Toll Bar B' team, who had pulled off a major shock in their semi-final by defeating Division Two winners Horden Rake.

But there was to be no further surprises in the final, as the Fox & Hounds retained their title in fine style.

The victorious team were then presented with a 36-gallon barrel of beer for winning their league, followed by a further 36-gallons for taking the overall title.Pub landlord Derek Haworth said: "It's great to see the team carrying on where they left off last season.

"By winning titles and continuing to do well, they are keeping up the good name of the pub in the pool world, for which I'm extremely grateful.

"They have certainly enjoyed a few good nights to celebrate!"
