Lancashire secured a crushing victory over hosts Yorkshire in their LV County Championship Roses clash at Headingley.

The Red Rose county won by an innings and 126 runs with a day to spare after bowling the home side out for 247 in their second innings.

Yorkshire lost three wickets before lunch to trail by 212 runs in their second innings with Lancashire still to bat again.

Resuming 329 behind on 44 for one, responding to Lancashire's first-innings 517, the hosts lost Joe Sayers, caught by wicketkeeper Luke Sutton off Andrew Flintoff, before Jason Gillespie (44) and Anthony McGrath (40) followed.

Legendary Sri Lanka spinner Muttiah Muralitharan wrapped things up by taking five for 66.

Meanwhile, Somerset wrapped up a six-wicket win over second-placed Nottinghamshire to strengthen their position at the top of Division Two.
