Rovers reporter Rich Sharpe hands out his player ratings after the 2-0 win at Ewood Park

David Raya 8 (MAN OF THE MATCH)

Excellent saves to deny Reeves in both the first and second half but more impressive was his claiming of high balls in to his box which helped alleviate the pressure that was building on the Rovers back four. One of his best performances of the season and deserved the clean sheet which came his way.

Ryan Nyambe 6

Looked unsteady at times against the long diagonals that were sent in his direction but stuck to his task throughout.

Paul Downing 7

Won his fair share of headers against the powerful figure of Magennis and made one excellent last ditch tackle to deny Best.

Charlie Mulgrew 8

Was his free-kick which led to the opening goal and a second half slip apart, was excellent in his defensive duties.

Derrick Williams 8

Is starting to reproduce the form that saw him named player of the season last term. Attacked well in the first half and defended well after the break but should have had his name on the scoresheet just before the break.

Richie Smallwood 7

Put in a real shift with some strong running, particularly late on, though was a bit too hasty in possession to get the ball forward at times.

Corry Evans 6

Neat and tidy on the ball and positioned himself well, but Rovers needed a bit more from him when the tide was turning in the second half.

Craig Conway 7

Went close to a second goal with a shot which flashed just wide while hit the gloves of Amos with another effort from distance. An all-action display and looks back to full fitness.

Bradley Dack 7

Wasn’t at his sparkling best though did have a good opportunity in the first half to add to his recent goalscoring spree. Moved out the left late on.

Marcus Antonsson 6

Much of Rovers’ best attacking play came down his side in the first half but he was more anonymous after the break before being taken off.

Dominic Samuel 6

Was a little tied up in wrestling with his marker at times to pose a real goalscoring threat but certainly put himself about.

Subs

Danny Graham (for Samuel, 59) 7

Six for the season and three in four for the experienced frontman whose knowhow helped Rovers keep the ball better than they had prior to his arrival.

Joe Nuttall (for Antonsson, 59) 7

Should take great credit for his endeavour and pinpoint cross for Graham’s second goal.

Willem Tomlinson (for Evans, 69) 7

Pass of the match sent Conway in the clear as Rovers almost scored a second and was energetic from the off after being sent on.

Subs not used: Leutwiler, Caddis, Ward, Harper
