STEVE Cotterill has hailed Burnley's sensational new redevelopment plans - insisting a re-vamped Turf Moor will give supporters a ground "to be proud of".

The Clarets boss expressed his delight at the £20m plans, which will bring the ground in line with top Premiership and Championship venues.

As part of the redevelopment, the players' changing rooms will be relocated from the current Cricket Field stand into a state-of-the-art facility between the Jimmy McIlroy and James Hargreaves Stands.

In the past, Cotterill has called for the dressing rooms to be moved, to avoid Burnley's players coming in and out of the tunnel to boisterous away fans.

But while the relocation is a huge boost, Cotterill is ecstatic with the plans at large.

"This would be something that for three years I have been banging the drum about," he said.

"I suppose my pet hate has been the away stand and a bit more modernisation of the Bob Lord Stand.

"The thing is that in three or four years time, the club will be unrecognisable, so for the people of Burnley that is just magnificent.

"They love their football team as it is and it's the only thing they hang their hat on, so to have all of this is amazing."

Cotterill added: "I first knew about this six or seven months ago and it was hard not to tell everybody because I wanted everyone to know how exciting the future is going to be.

"I am just really pleased for the fans because there are always a few comments that go around about maybe the state of one of our stands.

"The Bob Lord Stand is as nice as anything inside.

"But outside, with the revamp it is going to get, and the car park and the Cricket Field Stand, it will be unrecognisable.

"Then we can have a ground to be proud of."

Meanwhile, Cotterill admits his side were given a tough assignment last night as the Clarets drew 1-1 at Bradford City in their latest pre-season game.

Ade Akinbiyi gave Burnley the lead midway through the first-half, doubling the striker's pre-season tally following his penalty at Wrexham last week.

But the Bantams fought back with Kyle Nix squaring matters at Valley Parade just before half-time.

Cotterill said: "We knew coming here was going to be a tough game - but that's what you want.

"At times it was a bit scrappy, which was disappointing because it was a good pitch.

"But it was a good work-out for us.

"It's another game in what has been a hard pre-season so far. But we chose to have hard games."

Cotterill revealed that Stephen Foster and Wayne Thomas will require stitches after the defenders clashed heads during the latter stages of the friendly.
