BURNLEY striker Jon Walters is set to miss Republic of Ireland's World Cup play-off games in November as he continues to battle a recurring knee problem.
The 34-year-old hasn't featured for club or country since starting Ireland's 1-1 draw in Georgia on September 2.
He has been sidelined for the Clarets with a knee injury since then and Sean Dyche has been unwilling to put a timeframe on his recovery.
But is is expected that Walters won't be fit for November's international break at the very least.
Speaking before the Clarets win at Everton before October's international, Dyche said of his summer signing from Stoke: "Jon won't make it as we are still letting his knee calm down.
"The knee has flared up and there is a settling down period for that type of injury, so we are unsure on timescales.
"I think it will be a bit of a while; we're not sure yet, but it's not going to be days. It'll be longer than that."
The Republic of Ireland, managed by Martin O'Neill, will learn at next week's draw whether they will face Switzerland, Italy, Croatia or Denmark in the play-offs.
