DANNY Graham is working hard to win his place back in the Rovers team, according to boss Tony Mowbray.

Graham has been an unused substitute in Rovers’ last two games, having started the opening two League One games of the season.

The 31-year-old will be eyeing a recall against MK Dons this afternoon, with Rovers without the services of Bradley Dack through injury.

But Mowbray says no-one in the squad should expect to start every week, but praised Graham’s response to being left out.

“There’s no surprises for any of the players that have been left out,” Mowbray said.

“They have heard my voice over the first few weeks of the season, they hear it every day, about the demands that are required to get in this team and stay this team.

“They all know.

“Danny is getting on with his work, working really hard to get himself in a position that when his chance comes and he gets back on the grass to make sure he can work hard, score some goals and help the team win.”

Graham topped the Rovers scoring charts last season with 13, and netted five times in six pre-season friendlies during the summer.

However, Dominic Samuel led the line at Bradford City last weekend, while loanee Marcus Antonsson was preferred to Graham for the league cup tie against Burnley.

This afternoon Rovers face an MK Dons side who also picked up their first win of the new season last week.

The win over Gillingham, as well as their two previous league defeats to Blackpool and Wigan, all came by a 1-0 scoreline, and Mowbray expects a similarly tight game at Ewood Park this afternoon.

“They are a big, strong, physical team,” he added.

“They are a dangerous team, yet they haven’t scored many goals.

“All of their games have been very tight, I’m not expecting anything too different from that.

“Historically they have always been in and around the top of the table, they got promoted a couple of years ago, and have obviously come back down, but they are a slick team.

“But we don’t really worry about the opposition, it’s about us and if we can perform at the intensity we need to, we will give them problems.

“We will be aware of their threats but it’s just the next game which we will look forward to.”
