BLACKBURN Rovers will freeze prices on early bird season tickets, it was revealed at Thursday’s Supporters Consultation Meeting.

Season tickets will go on sale from Wednesday and will be available to adult supporters from £279 if bought before Friday, June 2.

Prices will be frozen up to that date, with supporters able to buy, or renew, an adult season ticket in the Riverside Stand for £279 or in the Ronnie Clayton Blackburn End, Bryan Douglas Darwen End and lower tier of the Jack Walker Stand for £299.

There will then be two further price increases, during phase two and finally phase three, with adult prices in phase two ranging from £299-£420 and in phase three from £319-£449.

Prices for seniors and those aged between 18 and 21 start from £179, while a new 12-17 age bracket has been introduced, with season tickets starting from £60, rising to a maximum of £110.

Under-eights will again go free in the family stand, if their season ticket is bought alongside a paying adult, while under-11 prices will remain frozen at the same price throughout the differing sales period.

Phase two of season ticket sales will start on Saturday, June 3, with phase three beginning in July.

Rovers say the decision to increase prices after the early bird stage is ‘in order to move towards market rate’,

But the club added: “But in keeping with the club’s tradition of offering affordable football, after the early bird deadline has passed, there will be a phased price rise for adults, concessions and ages 12-17.

“In this era of Financial Fair Play, ticket revenue is extremely important to the club, in order to help fund a competitive team.”

Fans who buy a 2017/18 season ticket will benefit from a new club cash scheme which can be spent on retail items and different promotions throughout the season.

Rovers are also launching an official supporters membership scheme - the 1875 Club - which will entitle members to special benefits such as the chance to play on Ewood Park, visits to the training ground and other incentives.

The club say more details on those two schemes will be announced next week.
