BLACKBURN Rovers are hopeful Tom Lawrence will return to training tomorrow – to give himself every chance of being fit for Paul Lambert’s first home game in charge.
Lawrence came off 33 minutes into Rovers’ 2-1 derby win at Preston North End last Saturday after aggravating a training ground knock.
He has not trained since but his new boss has not ruled the on-loan Leicester City striker out of this Saturday’s Ewood Park clash with Sheffield Wednesday.
Rovers manager Lambert, who has no other injury concerns, said: “He’s doing okay. He’s not trained up until now but hopefully we can get him out tomorrow.
“It will be a late one but we’ll see how he feels. But I’ve got say Chris Taylor came in and was excellent for us.
“Tom actually got a kick in training believe it or not and he got hit in the same place in the match.
“But he’s doing all right, there’s not a problem or anything, it’s just if we can get him training tomorrow, then we’ll see how he is.”
