And so far they have sold more than 4,900 tickets of their 5,446 allocation for the Lancashire derby.

Tickets cost £24 for adults, £16 for over 65s, 16-18-year-olds and full-time students, £8 for 8-15-year-olds, and £2 for under 8s only when purchased with a full-paying adult.

And the club expects them to have sold out by Monday.

It will be Rovers’ first league clash at Deepdale since May 2001 when Matt Jansen famously scored the only goal of the game to seal promotion to the Premiership.

Preston boss Simon Grayson was on Rovers’ books at the time but he played no part in the match having long been frozen out by Graeme Souness.

Rovers, meanwhile, have been allocated 845 tickets for their clash at Bristol City on Saturday, December 5 (3pm).

Tickets cost £25 for adults, £22 for over 65s, £20 for under 22s, £17 for under 19s, and £13 for under 12s, and will go on sale to season ticket holders only from Monday.

Any remaining tickets will go on open sale from Friday, November 20.
