MARKUS Olsson may be closing in on four years at Blackburn Rovers but it is only today that he will play in an East Lancashire derby for the first time.

And left-back Olsson, who has not featured in any of Rovers’ four clashes with Burnley since his Ewood Park arrival in January 2012, cannot wait.

“It’s a big game for the club and everyone around it so the boys are looking forward to it and now we have a few days to recover and train hard before the Burnley game,” he said after Wednesday’s 0-0 draw with Derby County.

“It’s a game every player looks out for when they sign for the club but we try to focus and try to pick up three points so we can climb the table.

“We feel strong at home, we have good support at home, and we’ve been playing well at Ewood Park, so we’ll go 100 per cent into the game.”

Rovers made it five home matches unbeaten, and four straight clean sheets, on Wednesday.

And Olsson, whose twin brother Martin starred for Rovers in their1-0 Turf Moor win in March 2010, said: “I think we did really.

“We had a few chances in the first half and could have edged the game but it didn’t happen. We kept a clean sheet and we played some good football. It was positive.

“We know we have a strong team, we just haven’t had the results with us early on in the season, but now, in the last few weeks, we’ve been playing really well and picking up points as well, so we do feel confident going into games like this.”
