TOMMY Spurr will come into contention for Blackburn Rovers’ Championship clash at Hull City this Saturday.

The left-back was forced to sit out last Saturday’s 3-0 success at home to Charlton Athletic after being knocked unconscious in the 2-2 draw at QPR three nights earlier.

Spurr had only just regained his place in Gary Bowyer’s starting line-up from Markus Olsson.

Olsson, the club’s reigning player of the year, has impressed in his absence.

And Rovers boss Bowyer, who remains without Jason Lowe and Chris Brown, said: “Tommy Spurr has been given a clean bill of health and he’ll definitely come back into contention for the weekend.

“It’s going to be provide us with a bit of a headache before we announce the team as he’s worked ever so hard and had to be patient.

“But the response from Markus has been terrific as well, so it’s going to be interesting.”

Chris Taylor will step up his return to full fitness by playing in Monday’s U21s Premier League Division Two encounter against Brighton & Hove Albion at Ewood Park (7pm).
