CLITHEROE suffered the worst possible start when captain Simon Garner was carried off with a bad knee injury.
Colwyn Bay then took a 10th minute lead through an Alex Kevan header.
An end-to-end first-half finished with Joel Byrom netting a quick free-kick.
In the aftermatch of Byrom's strike, Colwyn Bay goalkeeper Matt Parry was sent off for over-protesting.
But playing against 10 men, Clitheroe failed to produce a single shot on target in the second-half.
On 80 minutes, the home side grabbed the winner when Darren Wright volleyed home.
