It's good to know that whatever happens against Chelski in the semi-finals of the FA Cup at Old Trafford, two Rovers players have already graced the new Wembley.

Congratulations to David Bentley who will go down in history as the first Englishman to score a goal at the new Wembley.

Quite apart from that, he was by all accounts England Under 21's best player yet again. I can't help thinking that if Steve McClown had taken a punt on him for the full squad, Bentley may have got his goal against Israel and made the task of qualification a whole lot easier than it now looks after yet another poor performance for the seniors.

There was an assist and a typical goal poacher's strike for substitute Matty Derbyshire too.

He must be pinching himself after all that's happened to him so far this season.

I know he has got a long way to go but as I've said before, he does remind me in many ways of a young Gary Lineker.

Let's just hope that both Matty and Bentley get the chance to bring their experience of Wembley to the Cup Final in May.

If we're being realistic, we should travel to Old Trafford for the semi more in hope than expectation. I don't think it is being defeatist to say that we will be massive underdogs, although I was somewhat bemused by Robbie Savage comparing a potential Rovers victory to Cameroon's defeat of Arsentina or Wrexham knocking Arsenal out of the FA Cup a few decades ago.

Of course it would be a shock if we could pull it off, but it would hardly register on the football Richter scale like those massive upsets.

Although we may be about £8 billion behind Chelski, we are only eight places behind them in the same division. We certainly have a fighting chance.

I sincerely hope we can shift the bulk, if not all, of our 30,000 allocation of tickets.

I reckon about that number or maybe a few more travelled all the way to Cardiff.

Okay, that was a final but this is the FA Cup and we only have to travel an hour down the road.

The ticket prices, while perhaps a bit more than we are used to paying, are certainly not prohibitive.

For many Rovers fans, an earlier trip to the Theatre of Dreams beckons with Rovers taking on the might of Man United next.

For me it is always a bit special playing United and it certainly brings home how far Rovers have come from our Third Division days of the 70's. I enjoy watching Life on Mars on the box and often wonder what it would be like to find myself back in the 70's watching us play Gillingham. Forget Life on Mars, now we're all "Rover The Moon!"
