GORDON STRACHAN today declared he has no regrets about choosing Shaun Maloney ahead of Aiden McGeady for Saturday's 1-0 Old Firm defeat.

The Celtic manager was speaking as criticism continued to rain down on him from sections of the Hoops support who believe this decision cost their team the match and allowed Rangers to climb back on top of the SPL.

When asked if, in hindsight, he would make changes to his starting XI, Strachan said: "None whatsoever."

And the manager made it clear that, while his players are bitterly disappointed to have lost, they have no cause to reproach themselves.

He said: "They have no regrets about their performance. If it had been a performance with nothing happening and the other team dominating you, then that's a bit embarrassing.

"Or if you let your team-mates down. But we never had that from anyone. That's the best we've played against Rangers in the league, that's for sure. So it was easy for the lads to come in and enjoy training yesterday and today.

"We have belief in our own ability and the way we like to play, and we must do the same again tomorrow night against Dundee United. But we must try and score goals because you must do that to win games."

Strachan confirmed that captain Stephen McManus is out for a considerable time following his knee surgery.

Barry Robson is also a doubt again after pushing himself to make it on to the bench at Ibrox.

But Darren O'Dea has recovered from the knock he took at the weekend and Scott Brown will come straight back into the starting line- up after his two-game ban.
