YORKSHIRE-bound Frank Sinclair has thanked Clarets fans as he bade farewell to Turf Moor.

The former 35-year-old Chelsea and Leicester City defender made a loan move, with a view to a permanent deal, to Huddersfield yesterday after over 100 appearances for the Clarets in two-and-a-half years at the club.

Sinclair was one of Steve Cotterill's first signings when he took control of the Clarets in 2004 and led the club with distinction in his time as captain.

And Sinclair admitted he had loved every minute in a claret and blue shirt.

He said: "My relationship with the supporters has always been excellent, right from the first day when I walked out. I signed at 6pm and played my first game against Everton at 8pm and the supporters seemed to take to me straight away.

"I would like to think I gave 100 per cent and I was certainly shown good support from everyone at the club, from top to bottom.

"I had a great time and I want to thank everyone connected with the club, from the players to the staff and supporters and especially the manager.

"He was the reason I joined the club in the first place. He talked me into going to Burnley and it ended up being a great shout for me.

"I have had some wonderful times and it was a part of my career that I certainly won't forget."

And Clarets boss Cotterill was equally full of praise for his former skipper.

He said: "Frank's been a fantastic servant. He hasn't been a minute's bother since he's been here. He's been first class but there's an opportunity for him to maybe extend his career beyond the end of this season. I would like to wish him all the best from everybody at the club.

"He's been magnificent for us. Some players come and go and there's some players that go and you're sad to see them leave and Frank's been one of those.

"But he's 35 now and not only does Frank need to look to the future, we need to look at that. We've brought Stephen Caldwell who is 26 and Frank's gone out who is 35 and that's things we are looking forward to.

"I would like to think, since he's been here, maybe I've been good for him and I can certainly say he's been good for me.

"We will miss him because he's a great character but football evolves and I think that we have a good opportunity to evolve too."

Meanwhile, Mike Pollitt has been recalled from his loan spell at Burnley by Wigan.

Pollitt, whose month-long loan at Turf Moor was due to expire after tomorrow's game against Sheffield Wednesday, has been taken back to the JJB Stadium by manager Paul jewell following an injury to Chris Kirkland.

l Due to favourable weather conditions and after receiving the green light from contractors and the Health and Safety Executive, the David Fishwick Stand will be back in use for the forthcoming home games against Sheffield Wednesday and Leicester City.
