PIONEER 79 Swimming Club were well represented at the Preston Swimming Club’s Gala held at Darwen Leisure Centre recently - so much so they had more swimmers than the hosts.

A total of 69 swimmers took part who between them won 35 gold medals, 39 silvers and 18 bronze. There were also a clutch of Speeding Tickets - awarded to swimmers when they finish their race quicker than the fastest entry time allowed for that particular event. And those individual efforts saw the Pioneer picking up the Top Visiting Club.

Izabel Forrest, 12, achieved the most Speeding Tickets, winning three, along with one silver and one bronze medal in the process.

Lily Gregg, nine, also starred, winning six gold medals along with one bronze while 11-year-old Ben Havers-Strong and Harry Robinson, 10 took home the biggest stash of medals for Pioneer, winning 8 medals each – Ben won two gold and six silver medals, while Harry won three gold, four silver and one bronze medal.
