BURNLEY saw a two-goal lead slip away at White Hart Lane as they exited the FA Cup at the first hurdle.

After a 1-1 draw at Turf Moor nine days ago the two sides met for the third time in 25 days, and a hectic schedule was beginning to take its toll on both, with Burnley making five changes.

In came Michael Duff, Michael Kightly, Ross Wallace, Marvin Sordell and Sam Vokes, while Jason Shackell, David Jones, George Boyd, Ashley Barnes and Danny Ings made way.

It was a blistering start from the Clarets though. After three minutes Sordell scored his first goal of the season, sending a left-footed volley beyond Michel Vorm after Kieran Trippier’s long ball had sent him through.

Four minutes later Wallace’s free-kick deflected off Roberto Soldado in the Tottenham wall to double the advantage.

But on ten minutes Paulinho got Spurs back in the game, finishing after Soldado had flicked on Andros Townsend’s cross.

On the stroke of half time Etienne Capoue equalised, driving home from 20 yards.

Within seven minutes of the restart the comeback had been completed. First Vlad Chiriches bundled home a Paulinho corner at the back post, and then Danny Rose slid in to convert Soldado’s low cross.
