NOTTINGHAM Forest have completed the signing of Chelsea youngster – and ex-Blackburn Rovers loanee – Todd Kane, using their Sky Bet Transfer Fund winnings to bring him in on loan until the end of the season.

Forest won the £250,000 Transfer Fund when fan Shaun Lander was selected in a random draw at Wembley on Tuesday, December 16 and will hope he can help propel them up the Championship table and into the play-off positions.

Kane established himself as Blackburn’s first-choice right-back during successive loan spells, initially proving his qualities in the second half of the 2012/13 campaign and then spending the whole of last season at Ewood Park, making 42 appearances in total.

Forest manager Stuart Pearce said: “Todd is a player we know well and we are all looking forward to working with him.

“He will be a huge asset to the team and I’d like to thank Shaun Lander for participating in the Sky Bet Transfer Fund and helping the club to sign Todd.”

Kane said: “I’m really looking forward to this next challenge in my career. Forest are a huge club with great tradition and I hope to help them achieve success during my spell with them.”

The 21-year-old started Chelsea’s first pre-season friendly of this season, a 5-0 win at Wycombe, but was forced off after just 20 minutes due to injury.

He then went on to join Sky Bet League 1 side Bristol City on loan earlier this season, however further injury problems restricted him to a solitary start and four substitute appearances.
