TWO young Blackburn Harriers members raced to glory at the Lancashire Cross Country Championships.

Joshua Boyle won the Under 15s boys race by four seconds while Grace Handley also powered to top spot in the U17s women’s race.

But her margin of victory was more than a minute faster than the second-placed finisher as well as her clubmate Elizabeth Greenwood in third.

The performances of Greenwood, Handley and Phoebe Howe ensured Blackburn Harriers claimed the U17s women’s team title.

Clayton-le-Moors Harriers’ Jackson McKay finished second in the thrilling U11s boys race and there was also a podium place for Charlotte Corrigan in the U11s girls race, the Hyndburn AC starlet passing the post in third.

Blackburn Harriers’ Eleesha Charnley, Leah Hoole, Anna Rankine and Kate Cookson were second in the team standings with the Chorley Athletic & Triathlon Club’s Isabelle Farron, Emily Warren, Lauren Prince and Lucy Goldthorp third.

Rossendale Harriers’ Matthew Mackay raced to second place in the U13s boys race.

Blackburn Harriers were third in the team standings thanks to Jamie Teare, Charlie Obank, Daniel Brown and Anthony Beresford.

Briony Holt came second in the U11s girls race and, along with Eleanor Root, Millie Stubbs and Liberty Thompson, helped Clayton-le-Moors Harriers finish third in the team table. The club also finished second in the U15s boys standings courtesy of Curtis Holt, Thomas Bradley, Ryan Clarke and Alexander Townrow.

Blackburn Harriers’ Megan Clarkson finished second in the U15s girls race, the team winners of which were Phoebe Small, Amelia Chadfield, Corinna Howorth and Shauna Williamson of Rossendale Harriers.

Matthew Barnes was second in the U17s men’s race and, combined with James Marchant and Callum Ross, ensured Pendle AC were second in the team standings.
