I THINK Ashley Barnes in the last few games has proved his transfer fee from Brighton last January for £750,000 was money well spent.

He has come through some dark days but his recent form has been superb and will no doubt have the manager wondering what he is going do to when Sam Vokes returns to full fitness.

But for Sean Dyche, it is a nice problem to have.

It will be a challenge for him but I am sure he will be working on trying out different strike duos down at Gawthorpe which he thinks will bring the team success.

I wrote in this column a few weeks ago that the fans will have to show patience with Vokes and let him get match fit when he does eventually get back in to the first team.

He is going to have to play in competitive games to achieve this and I know just how tough that can be having come back from a broken leg during my playing days.

I would like to congratulate the 1,700 fans who travelled down to White Hart Lane, they were truly magnificent.

I hope they wear their Clarets Santa hats with pride. It was great gesture from the club to hand them out - I hope they give me my one when we play Liverpool on Boxing Day!

I am not one from predicting results but let’s hope we can wipe away the memory of the Spurs game with a victory.

I thought we had done enough to come away from North London with a draw. Danny Ings was foiled by the Spurs keeper on three occasions and if only we hadn’t made mistakes at the back, who knows what would have happened.

I would also like to take the time to wish Clarke Carlisle a full recovery from his accident. He was a very popular player during his time at Turf Moor and my thoughts are with him and his family.

It just leaves me to wish you all a very merry Christmas and a happy New Year.
