BILL Bromilow rewrote the history books when he guided Lancashire to two English Championship crowns and a brace of Northern League titles during his five years as county captain.
He can add another chapter to his success story after winning the club championship at Chorley for a record seventh time.
The 53-year-old two handicapper overpowered John MacIntosh 6&5.
“I was six up after eight holes so it was always going to be a struggle for him after that,” said Bromilow, who beat the previous record he shared with Norman Fletcher.
“It’s 14 years since I last won it,” revealed the three-time Bolton champion, “but I played steadily throughout.”
Beaten semi-finalists were Steven Eckersley and Graham Bolton, the latter consoled by claiming the Hansen Trophy in the 36-hole qualifier with rounds of 69 and 64.
Meanwhile Jackson Burgess won the junior championship for the second year in a row.
