Kerrigan can’t wait for return to Tests

SIMON Kerrigan is ‘really excited’ at the prospect of returning to the England Test side for the second Investec Test against India which gets underway on Thursday at Lord’s.
The Lancashire left-arm spinner was named in a 14-man squad by the national selectors following England’s drawn First Test at Trent Bridge.
Kerrigan, who is currently playing for the Red Rose in their LV= County Championship game against Nottinghamshire at Liverpool, will link up with the the England squad later in the week.
He said: “I’m really excited. I’m delighted to get the call-up and hopefully I can get a go and bowl well.”
The Preston born bowler spent part of the first Test at Trent Bridge with the England squad and bowled in the nets.
“It’s been a good week,” he added. “I’ve done a lot of bowling and it’s been good to be around the lads.”
Kerrigan, who made his debut for England at The Oval against Australia last summer, admitted he is not the finished article yet but he is determined to continue on his path of progression.
He added: “It’s not going to happen overnight and I would have liked to have bowled better this season so far, but it’s a work in progress and I’ve got to keep learning from every experience I get, keep progressing and get a few wickets.”
Meanwhile, bad light stopped play in the game at Liverpool yesterday with Lancashire on 55-2, a lead of 19 over Nottinghamshire.
