WAYNE Ivinson is Mytton Fold Golf Club’s Champion after winning the two-day club championship.
His 79+79 gross equalled Chris Chadwick’s 76+82 and, following a three-hole play-off, Ininson was crowned champion.
Saturday morning started with a bang when the second tee shot of the day went straight in the hole, netting Keith Fitzhenry his first hole-in-one!
Sadly Fitzhenry’s game went downhill from there, but the ace inspired club captain Peter Main to go on to finish third in the nett competition with an 88-19-69.
He was beaten by Steve Cunliffe (88-12-68) and first day winner Steve James (89-23-66).
Day two saw a reverse-seeded field battle it out for second round and overall honours.
This time it was Martin Holden’s time to shine. After a challenging round the previous day which resulted on a nil return, he showed his true mettle with an 82-15-67.
Gary Aldred (86-17-69) came home two shots in arrears, while Steve Worrall (84-14-70) finished third.
In the nett, overall competition Tony Cross topped the list with 69+72=141. Ivinson finished second with a consistent 73+73=146 while Peter Main held on to third 69+78=147.
Fitzhenry pocketed the whole of the Twos Pot on Saturday when he holed out at the first. “It’ll help with the bar bill”, he said of his prize.
Sunday saw several bites at the twos cherry, when Denis Leaver and Chris Chadwick birdied the first while Dave Westwood and Mick Mahon did likewise at the ninth.
In the Ladies 9-hole July Stableford Hazel Sellars came home first ahead of Gillian Pinder and past lady captain Doreen Hammond.
