ONE of Lancashire's most successful amateur football managers, Terry Braithwaite, says next season will be his last in charge of Rimington Football Club.

Braithwaite has led Rimington to a remarkable 23 trophies – including a record-breaking number of East Lancashire League crowns.

His greatest achievement, however, and the biggest moment in the club's history came in 2013 when he guided the villagers to the West Riding Challenge Cup with victory over Bay Athletic on a never to be forgotten night at Elland Road.

"Finishing outside the top two last season for the first time in ten years hurt us all – and I want to put us back where we belong before I hand over the job,” said Braithwaite (below).

“Although the first team won the Craven Cup again, which was good, I was so disappointed with our league campaign. It has been an honour managing and playing for this great amateur club and I'm determined to make next season, my 15th as Rimington manager, a special one.”

Rimington have appointed Warren Jackson as their reserve team manager with experienced former Clitheroe man Jon Penman and Ben Walker also playing key roles in the backroom set up.

After the relative success of Rimington's Under-21s first season, finishing as runners-up in both league and cup competitions, the club will be hoping that coaches Gary Kay and Adam Hutchinson can take them one step further in 2014-15.

All the respective coaches are looking to add to their squads for next season, and new players are welcome to attend the first training session at Castle Field tonight (July 1) at 7pm.

“We are looking for all our teams to copy each other in the way they prepare, train, warm-up and play, so it ensures a smooth transition from squad to squad,” added Braithwaite.

“For example, Adam and Gary built up a very good Under-21 squad with players also representing the senior teams, and we want to integrate that further.”
