NELSON’S Under-13 A squad continued their perfect start to the season with a comfortable victory over Enfield.
Batting first, Nelson posted 273-2 with Matthew Pettinger (14) and Spencer Phelan (13) both in form with the bat as they cruised to their fourth win from the same number of fixtures.
Enfield, though, were restricted to 235-5 with Jamie Randall, Keiron Cunningham, Spencer Whelan and Pettinger among the wickets as Nelson won by 38 runs.
The Under-13 B team were also in the winning groove, defeating Church by 42 runs.
Nelson piled on 296 with Jack Bradley (25) and George Graham their top scorers. Church were bowled out for 254.
However, they found East Lancs too strong in their next game, losing by 30 runs. Nelson (243), East Lancs (273).
Nelson's Under-15 (38) were crushed by Lowerhouse (112) in a decidely one-sided contest.
Nelson's Under-13 squad also found themselves on the wrong end of a heavy defeat against a powerful Ramsbottom outfit.
Ramsbottom got their teeth into a lack lustre bowling attack, smashing 137-1 from their 20 overs.
Nelson were never in the hunt, though, with Sam Johnson (26) and Matthew Pettinger (12) the only batsmen to show any sort of fight as Nelson limped to 75-8.
