St Stephen’s to represent Burnley in SPAR Lancashire School Games.
Pupils from St Stephen’s primary school took victory in a mini tennis tournament to seal their place at this year’s SPAR Lancashire School Games county finals.
The team from St Stephen’s competed against 22 other schools from across the Burnley district and will progress to the School Games County Final where the pupils will compete against other tennis hopefuls from across Lancashire.
Wellfield, Christ the King, Casterton and St Stephen’s teams battled it out on the courts at Burnley Tennis Club after securing their place from four qualifiers held throughout May.
Helen Tyson, Burnley School Games Organiser, said: “Tennis has rocketed in popularity amongst Burnley pupils over the past few years and the 2014 borough finals was the highest attended yet.”
