BLACKBURN Rovers’ longest unbeaten run in more than five years has left them feeling they can ‘beat anyone’.

That is the verdict of impressive on-loan Manchester United defender Michael Keane after Gary Bowyer’s resurgent side brushed aside QPR in impressive fashion on Tuesday night to make it seven matches without defeat.

Confidence is surging through the Rovers camp ahead of today’s trip to Sheffield Wednesday (3.07pm) and Keane said: “We feel we can beat anyone at the minute.

“We’re seven games unbeaten now and we feel if we had won every one of them we would have been good value for it.

“We’ll go into our next game confident and hopefully we’ll get another win.”

Rovers head to Hillsborough on the back of three wins and four draws in their last seven matches.

That represents the club’s best run of form since February 2009 when Sam Allardyce stretched his unbeaten start to his Ewood Park reign to nine games with a 2-1 FA Cup extra-time victory at home to Sunderland.

Rovers’ current seven-match unbeaten run is the longest at present in the Championship – and one which has hauled them within four points of the play-offs.

With sixth-placed Reading not playing until Monday, when they welcome table-topping Leicester City to the Madejeski Stadium, victory over the Owls today would move Rovers within one point of the team currently occupying the final play-off position.

Keane said: “While the play-offs are still doable we’ll keep fighting.

“There are five games left and if we can win four or five of them we should be in or around it.

“So that has to be our aim.”

The rousing 2-0 home success over QPR was made all the sweeter for Keane as his twin brother Will was in the opposition line-up.

It was the first time that the siblings, who are both on the books of defending Premier League champions United, had faced each other.

Keane said: “It was quite strange as I have never been on the opposite team to him, he’s always been on my team.

“So it was a good occasion, we had a lot of family and friends, and I’m sure they were pleased it managed to happen. I’m glad we got the win.”

Rovers have not lost since Keane was moved from centre-back to right-back. And he said: “I prefer centre-back but I think I’m comfortable at right-back as well.

“I enjoy getting forward, it’s just when you get one-on-one with a tricky winger that I’m not quite used to but it’s going all right.

“I think I’m getting better at it and getting more comfortable.”
