Rossendale 13
Huddersfield 21
With two top packmen Paddy Pole and Johann Goosens absent, losing Leyton Taylor first to a yellow card in the first half followed by a red in the second and despite going down 13-21 this was a more than creditable performance by Rossendale against N3N title favourites Huddersfield.
A penalty to touch and a catch and drive followed by good hands gave the visitors the lead with a try from Tom Owen, converted by Tom Hodson.
Rossendale struck back with two penalties from Steve Nutt to close the half at 6-7.
In the second period and down to 14, Rossendale conceded a penalty try with a break in midfield giving Hodson the opportunity to go over for a third, both converted by the outside half.
In the closing minute Rossendale crossed for the try their efforts deserved with Jordan Lord picking up at the back of a ruck after Jamie Albinson had been held up over the line following some aggressive pick and go play by the home side, Nutt adding the conversion.
