Rimington 3 Langho 2

East Lancashire League champions Rimington remain five points off the top following their derby victory over Langho.

But they didn’t get things all their own way as they had to fight back from a goal down to beat their relegation-threatened neighbours.

After Langho took the lead, Fagan thundered home a wind-assisted free kick for Rimington to make it 1-1 at the break.

The home side then took the lead when Fagan picked out Walsh who controlled the ball before slipping it past the keeper.

A third goal arrived in the 65th minute when Dinsdale broke out of his defensive post down the right before crossing for Blackburn to make it 3-1.

Langho pulled one back in the last minute to to set up a frantic period of added-on time, but Rimy stood firm to take the points.

Manager Terry Braithwaite said: “I think we deserved the points because of the chances we created, but to be fair to Langho, a couple of big decisions didn’t go their way.

“You need a bit of luck to win the title, and we have had our share of bad luck this season with all the injuries. But we have players back which is great timing as the games come thick and fast in April.”
