BURNLEY came from behind to secure a tight victory at Garstang and preserve their unbeaten record in 2014.
The home side struck first with two converted tries to open up a lead but Burnley were able to re-group and fight back.
Matt Marquis instigated the Burnley comeback with a score following an excellent team move, before Nino Angelone crossed and Gus Ferguson converted to reduce the deficit to two points.
Garstang hit back and added a third converted try but then lost a player to the sin bin and the visitors capitalised.
Ben Healy scored after the Burnley pack did the damage and Ferguson’s conversion meant it was 21-19 at the break.
After the interval Burnley’s superior fitness began to tell and a Ferguson penalty put them 22-21 up.
The visitors began to take a stranglehold on the game and Adam Healy secured what proved to be a clinching try as he sprinted away to score. Ferguson missed the conversion but Burnley held out for the win.
Burnley host unbeaten league leaders De La Salle on Saturday.
