Longshaw’s Jonny Hannan joined an exclusive club when he knocked in a fabulous 102 total clearance in the league match against VIP B.

The match started well with Longshaw taking the first frame via Tom Whittle then Hannan broke off in the second against VIP hot-shot Haider Ali.

Ali played what looked to be a reasonable safety but it was to be his one and only shot. Hannan had been threatening to play like this for the last few weeks and it certainly came good here.

He looked imperious as he potted ball after ball to clear the table and give his side a 2-0 lead.

It was back to earth with a bump in frame three though as Hannan and doubles partner Tom could only manage a single point between them as Ali and Jake Webster took the frame with ease.

The next two were shared before Frank Jex finally found some form to give his side the five frames needed for victory.

Longshaw A put themselves right back in the promotion race with a fabulous 7-1 win at the Anchor.

The visitors took the first six frames before Anchor skipper Bob Graves saved them from the whitewash.

Orchard WMC continued their improvement, winning 5-3 away at Rishton Golf Club.

The visitors raced to a 4-0 lead before the experienced Tony Haworth stopped the rot.

Luke Masterman and Dave Birtwhistle won the last two frames to make the scoreline respectable.

Blackburn Golf Club B shocked league leaders VIP A 6-2 – the golfers first away win of the season.

The night’s other match saw strugglers Hole I’th Wall battle to a gritty 4-4 draw against Borough Hotel.

The Borough will play out their home fixtures on the Anchor table following the closure of their own venue.

Division One leaders Greenfield will be kicking themselves after letting a 3-0 lead slip against Blackburn Golf A.

The visitors got off to their customary flier but when young Jordan Cotton overcame George Holden it turned the game on its head as the home team took full advantage of the run to find themselves 4-3 ahead.

The final frame was a tense affair between Golf Club skipper Chris Nutter and the evergreen Gaz Hampson. Nutter started well and soon found himself 30 points up but there was no way Hampson was going to lose this one.

He dug deep into his illustrious past to find a way back and soon found himself needing pink and black to win. It was Nutter who got first chance, taking on a risky double to middle.

It missed and Hampson pounced, potting pink only to knock black to the side rail. It didn’t matter as he got down and doubled it to salvage a draw for his team and keep their 11 match unbeaten run intact.

Closest rivals Hoddlesden pulled a point back on the leaders beating Cherry Tree 5-3. The first two frames were tight, Colin Crawford nicking the opener before Jim Ollerton levelled.

The next four were shared before Alf Illaria took control of things winning the doubles with Jake Loftus and then beating Cherry Tree captain Baz Holden to give his side the win.

Third-placed Park A put an end to Stanhill’s recent good run pinching it 5-3 to keep themselves in contention. Park B stuttered again going down 5-3 to the inconsistent Punch.

The night’s final fixture well and truly tore up the form book. West View, five points adrift at the bottom leap-frogged Mill Hill courtesy of an astonishing 8-0 victory!

The first two frames were tight affairs, Paul Upton taking the first on the black and Jim Amos beating John Ferguson on the pink. Phil Wignall looked impressive as he saw off Mick Killilea and when young Mick Jackson took care of Lol Prior the visitors began to believe the whitewash was on!

Wignall and Amos beat Killilea and Ferguson in the final doubles and when Jon Avery beat Mick Bufton in the best frame of the night it was left to Dan Marsden for the visitors and Gary Culshaw for Mill Hill to battle out the final frame.

It was nip and tuck all the way until Marsden potted the blue leaving himself needing only pink to seal the whitewash. He inexplicably missed the pink and, to make matters worse went in off!

With ball in hand Culshaw needed pink and black to win but played a nervy one that left the pink hanging to give Marsden his first win of the season and his side a famous 8-0 victory.

n It was a bad weekend for Blackburn teams in the North West Small Tables Championship.

The final match saw Feniscowles humbled 4-0 by Blackpool’s The Venue.

The results mean just three entrants from the league remain in competitor, all from Darwen.

The Punch, Hoddlesden Con Club and the Park Hotel all play this week.
