AFC Wimbledon have confirmed that they have cut short George Porter’s season-long loan from Burnley.

Porter made 24 league appearances for Wimbledon but the League Two club had the option to assess the situation in January and the winger has now returned to Turf Moor.

Wimbledon boss Neal Ardley said: “There was a review period in January and George’s form had dipped a bit before Christmas.

“George was therefore left out of the squad when we decided to change our shape slightly.

“George was unhappy about not getting game time and Burnley were looking to see if things were happening the way they wanted them to.

“Both clubs therefore decided it would be best for George to go back to Burnley so that they can review his situation.”
