GB call-up for Harry would be very n-ice!

Harry Ashworth aims to skate his way into the Great Britain squad.
Harry, 12, has trained at the prestigious International Skate School in Madrid and is now preparing for his future as a professional skater. He trains at Blackburn Ice Rink and has left coaches confident that he will be jumping triple axels and competing at the World Championships in no time. “I started ice skating when I was five, my mum was having lessons and I wanted to try it,” said Harry, who lives at Cross Stone in Todmorden, and competes all over the UK.
“I still have the same coach I started with in Keith Hudson but I also train with Kathryn Hudson, who competed for Great Britain at the Olympics, and is one of the top pairs coaches in the country. “I’ve been lucky enough to also have received lessons off Alexander Vedenin, an Olympic and World Championship figure skater who has trained some of the top Russian skaters.”
Harry trains an average of nine hours a week – seven hours on the ice – and would love to be a pairs skater but is struggling to find a partner.
“I’m really hoping to get into the GB development squad next year – that would make me a more serious contender to represent Great Britain in the future.
“Skating is definitely worth the bruises and sore muscles, especially when I know I have landed a good jump!”
