Dave Burnley column: A point was earned on day of history

Lancashire Telegraph: Danny Ings was on target again Danny Ings was on target again

LEICESTER is one of the nicer cities that we visit in the Championship. Indeed it has quite recently been at the centre of much worldwide media attention with the discovery of human remains of King Richard III in a previously unknown central location.

Historically it also boasts one of the countries oldest outdoor markets, which dated all the way back to 1298 and is located just outside the Exchange Building.

And that is where my date starts in the early-opening Wetherspoons outlet of the same name.

It is also where I conducted my own history lesson to the Leicester fans when they discovered I was a Burnley fan.

Although they weren’t too impressed at first, I got them onside when I added that David Nugent has scored four goals against us in his last five games.

The ex-Claret added a little more to his goalscoring history when he dispatched a debatable penalty to give the Foxes a first-half lead.

But once again, after being second best, the Clarets stormed back to claim a fifth gutsy draw in their last seven appearances and remain in an automatic promotion place. It was yet another commendable point.

We take on the Seasiders from from Blackpool and there is a great chance that we can regain top spot.

Talk about irony, it makes you wonder if dickheads like this guy have ever been to the hellhole that is Blackburnistan?

It is an awful place, full of rattling smackheads, Eastern Europeans or Asians. Hardly anyone in work, there is litter and scum everywhere, and has been long renowned as being one of the most socially and economically deprived towns in the COUNTRY.

Burnley is like Kensington when you compare it to Blackburn.

Are you writing about yourself here or what - although a tad racist for my liking.

The only reason bonleh is like you describe is because it is in a part of the world relatively few outsiders go to - tucked up in a lost valley at the foot of the pennines. At least the M6 and West Coast line have opened up Blackburn to the outside world. The M65 is a sad excuse for a motorway but it gets worse the further east you go. Don't kill the messenger.

Immigration has certainly opened Blackburn up to the outside world, you've at least got that part right.

Just a quick note for you as well - the M6 motorway that you mention is linked now to the M65, which incidentally is also the motorway that connects Burnley, so it has opened our town up as well you ignoramus.

And yes, Burnley is tucked away at the foot of the pennines, in some of the most fantastic countryside in Britain - you are correct.

Could you please explain why you feel those comments are racist as opposed to being observations.
