Arden tighten grip at the top

ARDEN Athletic tightened their grip at the summit of the Accrington and District Combination Division One, thumping Hapton 6-2.

But Park FC are hot on their trail after a hard-fought 4-3 win over St Mary's College OBFC, leaving them three points adrift of the leaders and having played one game fewer.

Free scoring Oswaldtwistle St Mary’s A stunned Whinney Hill Reserves, scoring twelve goals without reply as Hill suffered their heaviest defeat of the campaign.

Great Harwood Town are firmly in the title hunt after a 5-2 win at bottom club Burnley Road – while Newchurch are also in the mix following a 4-1 win at Victoria.

Division Two leaders Rosegrove Railway came off the rails in spectacular fashion as Water FC washed away their unbeaten record 6-0 in a torrent of goals.

But Lowmoor missed a golden opportunity to take over at the top, beaten 3-2 at home by Abbey, who claimed second place.

Hyndburn Athletic are still without a league win this season after a 3-1 home reverse to Bay Horse, while Rishton Rovers clocked up their second league win of the campaign and a much needed one, overcoming Globe Bullough Park 3-1.
