JORDAN Rhodes continued his superb scoring form last night as he fired Rovers to a well-deserved 1-0 home success over last season’s losing play-off finalists Watford.
The on-fire striker made it nine goals in seven games when he headed home in the 65th minute after captain Scott Dann flicked a long Tommy Spurr throw into the box.
Rovers, confident after their weekend win over Bournemouth, fully deserved the victory that moved them up to eighth in the Championship. Watford, the league’s leading scorers, rarely looked like adding to their 20-goal tally for the term.
And in the end the final scoreline could have been more emphatic had Hornets goalkeeper Manuel Almunia not saved from Rhodes in injury-time.
