A YOUNG Ribbledale League Under 12s side slipped to defeat against a Liverpool Comp team who brought out the big guns.

The Ribblesdale League, that had two under 11s and an under 10s player in the squad battled against Liverpool who had the luxury of calling on players from seven junior leagues. Following Liverpool’s defeat to Wigan, the opted to choose the strongest team possible with eight Lancashire and Cheshire players in their starting line-up.

Batting first, Liverpool scored 187 for five off their 40 overs with opener J Clein the mainstay on their innings, scoring an impressive unbeaten 69.

L Botes weighed in with 38 as J Bentham picked up two wickets for Ribblesdale.

In reply, Ribblesdale struggled to build an innings with openers J Briggs (4) and J Stamford (8) both going cheaply.

D Barber with 17 and J Richardson with 16 put up some resistence but when they both went, wickets tumbled at a regular interval – captain J Bone added seven – and the Ribblesdale League side were bowled out for for 88 inside 26 minutes.
