ST John’s Primary Schools have been crowned basketball champions at the Whitworth Sports Festival.
The tournament, organised by Rossendale Raptors in partnership with the Rossendale Leisure Trust, had teams from St Johns, two teams from Tonacliffe and Thorn Primary school.
St Johns topped the group followed by Thorn, with the two teams from Toncaliffe finishing third and fourth.
St Johns then beat Thorn in the final to claim the trophy.
England International Mollie Campbell was on hand to referee games and chat to the young players about her basketball career – showing off her England kits, national and international medals and talked about her trips around Europe.
To cap of the evening, Mollie, and Raptors coach Ken Masser played some games with the youngsters from Thorn who then put on Mollie’s England vests for a final picture.
