DEREK Shaw’s future as Blackburn Rovers managing director remained unclear last night after an apparently stormy meeting with Venky’s in Pune.

Shaw and secretary Ian Silvester met Rovers’ owners after being asked to fly out to India at the request of Venky’s.

Among the issues to be discussed were the circumstances surrounding former manager Henning Berg’s successful £2.25m claim against the club.

It was revealed during the court case, which ended last week, that Shaw was going to face a disciplinary investigation over his role in Berg’s contract.

It is believed the meeting became heated, but sources within the club indicated last night that both Shaw and Silvester remained in position. The duo were scheduled to fly back to England today.

Off-field issues could yet put the decision over the club’s new manager on the backburner.

Gary Bowyer remains the favourite for the job and has backing from senior figures within the club, but Venky’s will make the final decision.

The wait for a new manager has also made it difficult for Rovers to currently make decisions on a number of players.

That includes loan goalkeeper Greg Sandomierski, who Rovers have first option to sign the Genk man, with promoted Hull reportedly ready to step up their interest in the Pole.

The loan of David Jones has also now expired and Huddersfield have been linked with an interest in the midfielder, who may not be offered a new deal by Wigan and could be a potential summer target for Rovers.
