BLACKBURN Rovers have thanked fans for their support in Saturday’s 2-0 home win over Derby.

Goals from Jordan Rhodes and Scott Dann gave Rovers their first home win since February 9 to move the club out of the Championship’s relegation zone.

And Rovers operations director Paul Agnew contacted the Lancashire Telegraph to pass on the club's thanks to supporters for their backing during the game.

“It could have been an apprehensive afternoon with a lot of nerves because of the league position and the fact we hadn’t got a positive result at Ewood in so long,” said Agnew.

“But I thought the fans with the help of the early goal were tremendous and I'd like to thank them on behalf of the club.

“Rallying calls can lose their impact after so long and people have to be lifted by the football, but I thought everyone united on and off the pitch.

“It showed that, whatever the rights and wrongs of everything, how important it is for everyone to back the team for the 90 minutes.”

Rovers host Huddersfield tomorrow, with the Terriers one place above them in the table after Saturday's 3-1 win at Wolves.

“I’d just like to ask everybody for the same again on Tuesday,” Agnew added.

“Huddersfield will probably have a big walk-on support after their win at Wolves.

“We hope as many people can get to the game as possible.”

Meanwhile, Shebby Singh is confident of remaining in his current role of global advisor at the club – despite reports that he could possibly be given a new job with Rovers' youth system.

Singh’s current brief is to assess events on and off the field at the club and advise the owners on the best strategy going forward, but he has been at loggerheads in recent months with managing director Derek Shaw and operations director Agnew.

Singh currently remains in India while he awaits the finalisation of the formalities of an extended visa for the UK.
