THE current uncertainty over the future of managing director Derek Shaw is just the latest in a series of boardroom sagas during the Venky’s reign at Blackburn Rovers.

The Indian poultry giants took over at Ewood in November 2010 and quickly appointed Mahesh Gupta and Gandhi Babu to the board in January 2011, but weeks later respected chief executive John Williams departed after being frozen out of the club’s inner circle.

Williams’ exit was followed that summer by the departure of managing director Tom Finn, as well as fellow directors Martin Goodman and Richard Matthewman.

Paul Hunt arrived as deputy chief executive – despite the club not actually having a chief executive – and at the start of the 2011/12 campaign Simon Hunt was appointed as sporting director. Vineeth Rao also joined the board with Karen Silk arriving as finance director.

But Paul Hunt left in May 2012, shortly after it emerged in the press that he had written to Venky’s to express a range of concerns about events at the club.

Simon Hunt, Rao and Gupta all left the board last summer. Shebby Singh arrived as global advisor with press officer Paul Agnew stepping up to operations director and Shaw also joining the club.

But Shaw’s future is now in doubt only 10 months after he arrived at Ewood Park, as the boardroom merry-go-round looks set to continue.
