Accrington Stanley to continue Rachubka talks
10:20am Saturday 12th January 2013 in Sport
ACCRINGTON Stanley are expected to continue talks over a permanent deal for keeper Paul Rachubka next week – despite bringing Cameron Belford back to the club yesterday in a remarkable u-turn.
Both keepers have impressed on emergency loans but Stanley boss Leam Richardson allowed Belford to return to Bury on Thursday after informing the 24-year-old that he had decided to bring Rachubka back to the club.
Rachubka has now completed a three-match suspension, but the Reds ran out of time to finalise a permanent deal for the 31-year-old Leeds keeper ahead of today’s League Two match at Aldershot.
So Belford, who had been set to travel to Bury’s match at MK Dons, received a last-minute call to return to Stanley on a seven-day emergency loan covering only the Aldershot game.
The Reds squad had already started their journey to Hampshire, with Belford simply tweeting: “Funny old game football!”
