PADIHAM stretched their record to just one defeat in their last 12 games but had to wait until the second half to seal the points at Wigan Robin Park.
And it was leading scorer Ben Allen who finally unlocked the stubborn home defence with his 13th and 14th goals of the season.
The conditions did not help the flow of the game and chances were few and far between in the opening half.
But Allen broke the deadlock just before the hour mark with a clinical finish.
A ball by Joe Garvin in to the Wigan area was flicked on by Andrew Tinker and deflected in to the path of Allen who made no mistake from close range to make it 1-0 in the 57th minute..
The same player double the Storks lead three minutes later when Liam Foster released Allen who beat Wigan keeper Jason Foulds in a one on one.
Substitute Mark Sharples, signed from Ramsbottom United on Friday, chipped just wide and David Sherlock first in to the side netting.
- Barnoldswick’s clash with Bacup and Nelson’s match with Atherton Colleries were both postponed.
