TWO of the two teams in the NWCL Premier Division clashed at XLCR Stadium and it lived up to the expectation.
Colne, unbeaten in their last 10 games, knew victory would take them to just one point behind the leaders Maine Road – and the Reds started full of a confidence.
Nigel Coates’ side dominated the opening half but found Maine Road keeper Gregory Hall in inspired form.
Hall denied Jason Hart, Dominic Craig and Mickey Saunders.
His best save came just before the break when he denied Hall again.
Maine Road started the second half the sharper of the two teams and opened the scoring in the 53rd minute through Tom Bailey.
Tom Bentham then doubled the lead with a brilliant strike before Hart pulled one back with a last minute header.
