THE biggest weekend in the lives of East Lancashire's Olympics hopefuls is here.
Sophie Hitchon, Jonny Schofield and Samantha Murray have done us proud by getting this far in the Games.
And now as London 2012 reaches a thrilling climax, they all have the chance to shine and show the world what they are really capable of.
Hammer thrower Sophie Hitchon pulled off an amazing achievement when she broke the British record on Wednesday.
Tonight she will be aiming even higher to bring home a medal.
Jonny Schofield, from Sawley, will battle against the world's best canoeists in today's qualifier to get through to Saturday's finals.
And on Sunday Samantha Murray, from Clitheroe, is bidding for glory in the pentathlon.
Never before has our area had so many stars competing for the ultimate prize in sport.
These are exciting times and let's hope they can follow the fantastic achievements of Bradley Wiggins and Steven Burke.
So switch on the TV and shout them on to the glory. Come on Team GB!
