FOOTBALL just isn’t what it used to be. I look back fondly on the days when there was a pattern to the week.

Rovers played on a Saturday afternoon, when the town was represented by home-grown players, and then, over the season, there was the build up to the FA Cup.

It’s as though nothing and no-one is really special anymore.

I think it would be a good idea if Blackburn had regular fun days. They could be built round a theme – the Forties, wartime or the Sixties – where shops could have stalls.

Let’s see if we can motivate people to come into the town, enjoy the experience and do their shopping at the same time.

It would be great to see the streets busy and folk enjoying what Blackburn has to offer.

I visited Rawtenstall the other Saturday for its fun day and twas a huge success — so what thinkest thou?

I’ve been feeding my face again, at the early bird tea time treat at Huntley’s, with the St George’s Society.

It’s a great ‘get together’ evening and you’re home in time for Corrie!

I’ll let you know when the next one is – you might like to come along.
