THE actions of the two teenagers who vandalised cars at Royal Blackburn Hospital are reprehensible.

The youths, thought to be aged between 13 and 15, targeted staff cars before moving on to Shadsworth Leisure centre and the surrounding estate.

During their 90 minute wrecking spree they caused £4,000 of damage by ripping off wing mirrors and smashing windows.

The damage was only discovered when nurses finished a 12-hour night shift.

Now these hard-working people face the dilemma of claiming on their insurance and seeing a hike to their premiums or digging deep to find the repair costs themselves.

Then there is the inconvenience of having to be without their vehicles while they are repaired.

It is disgusting that the teenagers have wantonly damaged these cars, no doubt because they thought it would be ‘a laugh’.

They may be young, but they are certainly old enough to realise that it was a staff car park and those using it were working hard to help sick people.

In fact, they must be perfectly aware that their actions were criminal.

Let us hope the culprits are caught quickly and their punishment makes them think twice before doing anything similar again.
